As you might have seen we had a N.O.V.A. 3 giveaway at the beginning of the week that allowed lucky Matthew to be the first one in Australia to get the game through an exclusive code.
Matthew is one big NOVA fan, and as soon as he got the code he plunged into the third opus of our Sci-Fi FPS.

N.O.V.A. 3 is what fans of the series expect from the third instalment in the epic trilogy, if not better. It literally puts your right into the action from the start. With no boring cut scenes or dialogue N.O.V.A. 3 truly delivers!
The setting for a fare bit of the game is a now ruined Old San Francisco, it really gives you the sense that a war has taken place and the aftermath of this four year long battle. Everything since N.O.V.A. 2 has been updated for N.O.V.A. 3; from the immersive game play and mostly easy to use controls, to the amazing sound effects and breathtaking locations, N.O.V.A. 3 is certainly visually spectacular. Its visuals could be compared to Crysis 2 on the PC as it feels like Gameloft have really stretched the hardware to its fullest and successfully made a great game just like how Crysis 2 challenged a PC’s very limits.
The echo of the sniper rifles shot bullet makes the city you are fighting in feel all the larger and abandoned. All the sound effects really do sound spot on and in the right place, especially the futuristic weapons when shot. Every weapon has a unique sound and feel to them to suit how the player likes to go through the game. Do you like to go guns blazing? Then use the assault rifle or shotgun. How about some long range enemies standing on top of a building? No problem just grab out your sniper and take them done.
There are definitely key moments in this game where you need to use all of your weapons, but it’s not tedious and repetitive, it’s rather essential and strategic. Some key elements make a welcome return, like the ability to slow down time, the paralyse ability or even controlling mechs again which has been improved to make it even more enjoyable. Sadly dual wielding doesn’t make a return but the standard pistol makes up for it anyway with its great usefulness to help you out in many places.
The music score is great and it really fits in with most of the situations. And it’s great to see Kal joined by other N.O.V.A. soldiers on occasion. If you haven’t played any of the previous games then you could probably start here but otherwise check out those titles as well. All-in-all N.O.V.A. 3 is quite possibly the best iPod game I have played and is certainly the best sci-fi shooter for the platform.

Scrat was looking for a place to store his acorns when he made a crack on one of the ice caps causing the earth’s crust to break apart. All the animals have lost their homes! Manny, Ellie, Sid, and Diego decide to rebuild the village. Help them start from scratch in order to have a safe place for all the animals once again!
Build a home for each of the animals and their families. Look! The beaver family is hungry. Time to feed ‘em!
Scrat’s Nook is a neighboring village on the other side of the ice cap.
Play an exciting mini-game: Piranhas are trying to get to Scrat’s acorns! Hit as many piranhas as possible and get rewards which you can spend for your village.
